The opening pages of the book, The Last lifeline introduce us to Mma Kgomotso Palai as an outpatient in the physiotherapy department in St. Luke Hospital. She is also a science teacher at a private school. An accident she was involved in has left her neck broken and could as well affect the functioning of one of her hands.
Africa Book Club is delighted to announce the winners of the Africa Book Club Short Reads competition for March 2014. Mivanyi Kadala from Nigeria is our winner for the month with his story, Things Lost in Fog, about an elderly man confronting one of his worst nightmares.
The winning story for our November 2013 competition comes from Nigeria’s Chinenye Emezie-Egwuonwu. Her submission, Glass House, is a story about domestic violence and its consequences. Told through the eyes of a child, the story delivers its message poignantly.
